My Guilty Pleasure (week 3 of 52)

My guilty pleasure is trying new recipes. It's nothing like trying something at a restaurant and seeing if I could recreate it at home or just seeing a yummy recipe online that looks fun to try. My family is really support of this... Usually the only time a recipe does not come out right is when I do not follow the directions.

Anywho, what's your guilty pleasure?

Morning...(Week 2 of 52)

Good Morning :)

During the week my mornings start with a cup of tea followed by me checking my emails and working off of my "To-Do" List. I would say that I am defiantly a morning person. I usually do not cook breakfast during the week for my family (sometimes on the weekend) I love homemade waffles. (Plus, I’m looking forward to using my new griddle for making pancakes) My daily goal is to get dinner done by noon and to do as much running around before my little guy gets home in order to be home to assist him with homework.

How do you spend your mornings?

I will be linking up this week over at Lipgloss & Binky  #Project52

Bathroom Love (Blame Pinterest)

Right now I’m drooling over the bathroom décor below and above (found on Pinterest). Growing up it was pretty much the norm having decorative curtains as shower curtains. However, sometimes I forget that I am a home owner and I can pretty much do anything I want to my home. I was minding my own business while on Pinterest and I found the picture above.

Our bathroom defiantly needs an overhaul. I’m thinking about painting the bathroom grey and having purple accents. I am defiantly not looking forward to painting the bathroom. However, it’s something that needs to be done.

I am also in love with the molding. It’s something about molding that adds the perfect touch to a room.

(How cute is this stone look?)

Anywho, I’m not sure when these plans will come together. I may purchase our make the shower curtains. The bathroom is on my Project list.

Sorullitos de Maíz-Cheese Sticks

Recipe adapted from : HERE
  • 2 cups of water
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1½ cup cornmeal
  • 6 oz shredded Edam or Cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups vegetable oil

In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in salt, sugar and cornmeal. Return to heat and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the dough does not stick to the pot. Remove from heat and stir in cheese. Let sit for 5 minutes -or until you are able to handle the heat- and roll 1 tablespoon balls of dough into cigar shapes. In a large deep skillet, heat vegetable oil to 375 degrees. Cook Surullitos 4-6 at a time, making sure not to crowd the pan, until lightly golden brown. Drain on a paper towel lined plate and serve immediately.

The sauce is equally simple. Mix together 3 tablespoons ketchup, 1 tablespoon mayo, 1 minced garlic clove, and maybe a bit of Cayenne pepper (optional)

Project 52

This year I will be participating in Project 52 Hosted by EverdayEyecandy.com and Lipglossandbinky.com starting next week. I excited to join this photo challenge. Because I have never done one before. Not even on social media. Even though I take tons of picture on my phone and iPad. It feels as if my DSLR gets the back seat most days. Don't get me wrong, with my son being in sports throughout the year. My Canon usually appears at least once a week. However, I'm hoping this challenge will allow me to be a little more creative with my camera and learn how to become a pro, LOL.
